Leading the Effort

My name is Andrew Rockey, and I have been proud to call Chagrin Falls home since 2014. My family’s roots in the Chagrin Valley stretch back generations. My ancestors settled in Auburn, Ohio in the mid-1850’s, and most of my family has remained in the area since that time.  My great-grandparents, Karl and Mary Kaserman, moved to Chagrin Falls in 1941 and lived here until their passing (Karl in 1976, Mary in 1982). Their home sat across from the old Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds, the site of the current Chagrin Falls High School and Community Recreation Center. Fun fact: my great-grandfather Karl was famously opposed to the high school being built there, often saying the fairgrounds were rarely used and peaceful.

During the 50's and 60's Karl was on the Chagrin Falls Planning and Zoning board and at the time developers wanted to tear down the old buildings.  Karl fought to make the Village of Chagrin Falls what it has become today. My grandmother, Ann Kaserman Rockey, graduated from Chagrin Falls High School in 1944 and went on to teach in the Kenston School District, continuing my family’s tradition of public service.

I was first elected to Village Council in 2017 at the age of 30, making me one of the youngest council members in Chagrin Falls recorded history. I am now completing my third two-year term and am running for a four-year term to continue providing steady, non-partisan leadership. I currently serve on the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Safety Committee, and in the past, I have also served on the Shade Tree Committee and the Infrastructure and Utility Committee.

Professionally, I work as a Facilities Project Manager overseeing millions of dollars in capital improvement projects. My experience in construction oversight, budgeting, and public safety translates directly into practical, results-driven leadership for the village.  I pride myself in being a proven steward in ensuring projects are completed on time, and on budget.  In that, I believe I have gained and will continue to foster the public trust.

On council, I have assisted in delivering meaningful results. These accomplishments include:

  • Successfully navigated the replacement of the Main Street bridge in coordination with Cuyahoga County — a major infrastructure project completed without major disruption to the heart of the village.

  • Revitalized the Riverside Park playground, adding new ADA-accessible features so all children can enjoy it.

  • Worked directly with residents of Carriage Stone to get sidewalks installed.

  • Pushed for a new project planning process, moving the administration toward a clear, long-term capital plan — including road repaving priorities.

CAMPAIGN MISSION

Empowering Communities, Embracing Diversity

Our campaign is rooted in the belief that every individual deserves equal opportunities and fair representation. We are dedicated to fostering diverse perspectives, creating positive change, and building a future where everyone can thrive.

During my time on council, I supported the renovation of our Police and Fire Station. This project provided important updates to the building, giving our first responders safer, more reliable facilities while extending the usefulness of a key piece of village infrastructure.

Throughout my tenure, I have worked to ensure Chagrin Falls invests wisely in infrastructure while keeping our community safe and beautiful. One example is the upcoming Vincent Street Improvement Project, which will replace an aging water main, stabilize a slipping hillside, and resurface the road. This project addresses long-term safety and utility needs while improving the quality of life for nearby residents.

I also supported the Evergreen Hill Cemetery stream restoration project, which “daylighted” a buried stream and expanded usable cemetery space. By partnering with outside organizations, the village secured funding to cover much of the cost — protecting the environment while improving capacity and preserving historic grounds.

The Village’s Capital Improvements Plan has also advanced under my tenure, with targeted investments in sidewalks, stormwater improvements, wall and culvert stabilization, and Grove Hill Park upgrades. These efforts are coupled with our annual road re-paving program, ensuring that core infrastructure stays strong and reliable for residents.

While on council, I supported grant-funded infrastructure improvements, historic park beautification, and fiscal responsibility that reduces the burden on taxpayers.

Taken together, these accomplishments reflect my priorities: responsible financial planning, protecting the character and beauty of our community, and focusing on the basics of government; safe roads, reliable utilities, and well-maintained public spaces.

In addition to my service on council, I have been active with the Chagrin Valley Jaycees, worked with Safe Routes to School, and volunteered many hours as a crossing guard to help children safely get to and from school. I live here in the village with my wife and our three-year-old daughter. My sister, her husband, and their two children also live in Chagrin Falls, making both Chagrin Falls a true family commitment and public service a priority.

I believe local government should stay focused on the basics: picking up trash, maintaining parks, providing reliable emergency services, and repairing roads. I also believe in fiscal responsibility and in maintaining the beauty and historic charm of our village.

Hobbies

I enjoy hands-on projects, especially restoring vintage wooden boats. My father and I recently restored a 1951 Penn Yan Car Topper, and now we are working on bringing back a wooden boat built in the 1940s by my great-grandfather, Robert Black — a project that connects our craftsmanship directly to our family’s history.

Along with my wife and our daughter, I also enjoy overlanding and camping. We have taken our 4Runner through the backwoods of Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Michigan, New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire. We enjoy spending time outdoors and connecting with nature. The local Marathon station and its highly skilled mechanic appreciate having a repeat customer.

Another one of my favorite pastimes is smoking meat and sharing it with my neighbors. On Bradley Street, it is not unusual on a Sunday to find a good portion of the neighborhood gathered to enjoy some barbecue, just do not forget to bring a side.

I also enjoy Christmas lights and holiday festivities. At my home on Bradley Street, we go all out with decorations, making it a tradition that brings joy to our family, neighbors, and friends each holiday season.
